In partnership with the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, a three year merit scholarship was granted by Lewis Johs to cover tuition expenses for law student recipient Kostantinos Moukas. The selection to grant Kostantinos this scholarship was based on strict academic criteria set by Hofstra Law.
Kostantinos began his studies at St. John’s University pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies while minoring in Psychology. During his time at St. John’s, he was recognized upon the Dean’s List in 2015 and 2016. He was also awarded the Northern Epirus American Youth Scholarship, Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Mason Scholarship, and the George Marneris Scholarship. In 2017, Kostantinos finished his studies and graduated cum laude with a GPA of 3.67. He is now studying at Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University pursuing his Juris Doctorate degree. Outside of his studies, he is involved with the Dispute Resolution Society and Sports & Entertainment Law SocietyaPE.
Lewis Johs equity partners and Hofstra Law Alumni Thomas J. Dargan, Michael T. Colavecchio, and Jeffery M. Pincus recently visited the law school and met with Hofstra Law Dean Gail Prudenti and Kostantinos. During their meeting, the partners spent time learning about Kostantinos’ progress with his studies and had the pleasure of taking a tour of the law school that has changed from the years when they were law students. When Kostantinos was asked to comment on receiving this scholarship, he said, “I am truly honored to have been awarded the inaugural Lewis Johs LLP Annual Scholarship. This award fills me with confidence and provides me with the financial freedom to immerse myself in my studies without having to worry about the costs of my legal education. What is even more rewarding is knowing that such a wonderful firm is interested in supporting me and future Hofstra Law students. This generosity has made it clear to me that I have been given a great privilege and has inspired me to follow the path set by the exemplary attorneys and great people at Lewis Johs. From the first of whom I hope will be many grateful law students, I thank you!”
Dean Prudenti congratulated Kostantinos on another successful year of studies. She also thanked the firm for the scholarship contribution. “I am tremendously grateful to our good friends at Lewis Johs for establishing the Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles, LLP Annual Scholarship. The wonderful assistance offered to Kosta Moukas for all three years of law school demonstrates the firm’s incredible generosity and commitment to supporting the next generation of lawyers. This kind of support is crucial to Hofstra Law’s ability to attract outstanding students like Kosta and I know he will make us all very proud.”
Lewis Johs is proud of Kostantinos and looks forward to his progress as a law student and future attorney.
