Stephen Maloney is an associate at Lewis Johs, concentrating his practice in casualty defense, including transportation law, premises liability and professional liability.
Stephen earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University. While attending law school, Stephen interned for two years in the New York State Senate for former State Senator and current Congressman, Lee Zeldin, working on legislation and policy issues within the 3rd Senate District (Suffolk County). In addition, Stephen was actively involved in Albany Law’s Litigation Clinic where he worked under a student practice order from the Appellate Division (2nd Department) representing clients in administrative hearings regarding the denial of their unemployment benefits.
During the summers, Stephen interned for the Honorable William Condon of the New York State Supreme Court where he conducted legal research, was trained in trial tactics and observed the daily court room proceedings. Stephen also interned for the Suffolk County District Attorneys office where he worked in the Labor, Insurance and Revenue Crimes Bureau.
Prior to joining Lewis Johs, Stephen worked as an associate at a Long Island law firm where he practiced in the areas of casualty defense, including medical malpractice and personal injury.
Stephen graduated from Marist College Cum Laude with a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Economics. Throughout college, Stephen worked as a Legal Assistant for a local general practice firm as well as his father’s Project Management consulting company.
Stephen is admitted to practice before the New York State Bar, Second Judicial Department. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association, Brehon Society of Suffolk County and Nassau Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association as well as an active member of the Hauppauge Industrial Association of Long Island. Stephen resides in Patchogue with his wife.
