One of the founding partners of the law firm, Fred serves as senior trial partner in all areas of litigation.  Fred has been representing clients in transactions and matters of significant exposure for over thirty-five years.  He tries cases involving claims of medical malpractice, professional negligence, sexual molestation, product defect, property damage, major auto/truck accidents, premises liability, construction defect, labor law, environmental/toxic tort and defamation.  He takes a down to earth, common sense approach to resolving the most complicated litigation in a cost-effective manner.  Fred was chosen as one of six regional counsel for a major national insurer to oversee litigation involving sexual abuse and misconduct by clergy.  He has represented one of the state’s largest electrical contractors in labor issues and has served as Village Attorney for the Village of Port Jefferson.

Fred was Vice-Chairman on the Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District, serves on the Board of Governors of Touro Law School, the Board of Boys Hope Girls Hope, and the Board of Advancement for Commerce Industry & Technology, Inc.  (past president).   He also served on the Board of Mather Memorial Hospital for over 12 years.  Additionally, Fred has been honored as one of the ten best trial lawyers on Long Island and was named to “Best Lawyers” for thirteen consecutive years and to “Super Lawyers” for the ninth consecutive year.  He is rated “AV” by Martindale Hubbell and Long Island Pulse Magazine rated Fred a Top Legal Eagle in Suffolk and Nassau Counties for litigation.

Fred is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Defense Research Institute, American Bar Association, Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Suffolk County Bar Association.  He has lectured on medical malpractice litigation and trial techniques for both the Suffolk County and New York State Bar Associations and to various clients and insurance carriers on trial tactics, damages issues, accident investigations, and jury selection.

In London, Fred has participated in a mock arbitration of a New York State Labor Law case at Xchanging, a mock trial of a tractor-trailer accident and a symposium on litigation at the Lloyd’s Library, all presented to large groups of claims professionals, underwriters and brokers.

Fred Johs is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.  He attended St.  John’s University School of Law and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at Exeter, England.  He earned his B.B.A.  in Accounting from Hofstra University.
