James M. Burke has joined Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles, LLP, as counsel in its Melville office, representing clients in the fields of tax certiorari, land use zoning and real estate law.  Mr. Burke comes to Lewis Johs from the Brookhaven Town Attorney office, where he served as Deputy Town Attorney.  As Deputy Town Attorney, Jim served as counsel to the assessor and handled numerous tax certiorari matters.  He has represented the Planning Board as well as the Zoning Board of Appeals, handling significant land use matters.

Jim previously served as Deputy Director of the Suffolk County Department of Real Estate and was involved with the acquisition and sales of lands and negotiating leases for office space throughout Suffolk County.
