Tom Dargan Receives 40 Under 40 Recognition
Lewis Johs Partner Receives ‘40 Under 40’ Recognition (Melville, NY January 29, 2009)…Attorney Thomas J. Dargan, a partner at the Melville-based law firm Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles, LLP, was named one of Long Island’s “40 Under 40” by Long Island Business News at a gala event attended by over 700 of the region’s most prominent business and not-for-profit leaders. Mr. Dargan is a resident of East Setauket. The annual program recognizes the “best and brightest” young professionals on Long Island. “I am truly honored to be in the company of such distinguished Long Islanders who have been recognized for their achievements and their leadership roles,” said Mr. Dargan, who joined Lewis Johs in 1999 and has been a partner of the firm since July 2005. In 2008, Mr. Dargan was elected a member of the firm, becoming the firm’s fifth current equity partner. Since 1998, the “40 Under “40” Awards program has recognized the significant contributions and leadership potential of 40 of the region’s “rising stars” in government, education, law, banking, not-for-profits, high-tech industry and other areas. This year’s dinner was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Mr. Dargan's practice focuses mainly on representing commercial clients in complex civil litigation. He defends numerous corporate and commercial clients in state and federal courts, involving casualty defense litigation, including catastrophic trucking accidents, construction accidents, products liability, dram shop actions and premises liability. He was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1997 and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1998. His articles have been published both in the Nassau Lawyer, Suffolk Lawyer, and other publications and he is a frequent lecturer. In 1996, Mr. Dargan received his Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where he served as the research editor of the Hofstra Labor Law Journal. In 1993, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in English Literature from Providence College.
