Tara M. Higgins Senior Counsel With over twenty years defending clients in pesonal injury actions, Tara Higgins practices in the fields of premises liability, vehicular negligence, municipal liability defense, arbitration claims and appellate matters. Tara joined Lewis Johs in 1999 after serving as attorney of record with a major insurer, where she concentrated on the defense of personal injury cases involving labor law, products liability, premises liability and vehicular negligence. In addition to her legal functions, Tara was responsible for training and supervising junior trial attorneys. Tara was admitted to practice in New Jersey in 1990 and New York in 1991. She is a member of the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association and Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association. She has authored and presented seminars to the insurance industry on premises and automobile liability issues. Tara Higgins received her Juris Doctor degree in 1990 from Seton Hall University School of Law. In 1987 she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English from Villanova University. Working out of the firm's Riverhead office, Tara lives in Port Jefferson, New York with her husband and daughters. And yes, the rumor is true, the renowned Tara Inn of Port Jefferson, home of the famous $1 hamburger, opened by her father in 1977, is named after Tara. |
